Every woman deserves financial freedom. The Annapurna Yojana is making that possible. This new scheme by the West Bengal government gives ₹3,000 every month to eligible women. It is a big step toward women empowerment in the state.
Let’s understand everything about this scheme — simply and clearly.

What is Annapurna Yojana?

Annapurna Yojana, also known as Annapurna Bhandar Scheme, is a women-focused welfare scheme launched in West Bengal. It provides monthly financial support through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The scheme began on 1 June 2026 and replaces the earlier Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
The scheme was launched by the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal.

Official Notification: The scheme was officially notified through Notification No. 2411-WCD/O/AB-4/2026 dated 19 May 2026, issued by the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Bikash Bhaban, Salt Lake, Kolkata.

One Scheme, Many Needs — Here’s How It Helps

The ₹3,000 monthly financial assistance is not just cash. It is a lifeline. The financial assistance can help women manage grocery expenses, household needs, children’s education costs, healthcare expenses, electricity bills, medicines, and other day-to-day family requirements.

Scale of Annapurna Yojana — The Numbers Speak

The numbers are huge. Around 2.20 crore people were enrolled under the Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme. Out of these, 30 lakh beneficiaries were found ineligible. Thus, there will be around 2 crore beneficiaries for the Annapurna Yojana.

This is one of the largest women welfare schemes in India at the state level.

Migration from Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme

One of the biggest features of Annapurna Yojana is the automatic migration of existing Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme beneficiaries. Women already receiving assistance generally will not need to submit fresh applications again.
This saves time and effort for millions of women.

Final Thoughts

The Annapurna Yojana is a powerful scheme. It puts money directly into the hands of women. It supports families & also builds financial freedom.
If you or someone you know is eligible — apply today. Use only the official government portal. Avoid fake websites.
