What Does the Selection Process Look Like?

The Indian Navy selects candidates through three well-defined stages. Each stage tests a different aspect of your readiness.

Stage I – Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET):
The INET is a computer-based online exam with 100 objective-type questions. It covers English, General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, and Trade-Specific topics at diploma level. Additionally, the exam carries a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

Stage II – Physical Fitness Test and Written Exam:
The Navy conducts Stage II only for candidates who clear Stage I. Stage II includes both the Physical Fitness Test and a written exam. It also includes a Recruitment Medical Examination. Therefore, candidates must prepare physically alongside their academic preparation.

Stage III – Final Medicals:
Stage III covers final physical verification and Pre-Enrolment Medicals at INS Chilka before induction.

Additionally, the Stage I INET result will come out in August 2026. The INET examination itself is tentatively scheduled for the end of August or early September 2026.

The monthly package starts at ₹30,000 in the first year and rises incrementally each year. Furthermore, 70% of the package goes directly into the candidate’s hands each month, while 30% goes into the Agniveer Corpus Fund  which the Government matches equally.

Beyond the monthly pay, the benefits are substantial:
