BIS Recruitment 2026 for Section Officer posts

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a statutory body under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, has invited applications for the post of Section Officer on a deputation basis. A total of 20 vacancies have been announced across BIS regional offices, branch offices and laboratories in different parts of the country.

Eligible serving employees of the Central Government, State Government, Union Territory Government, Statutory Bodies and Autonomous Bodies can apply through the proper channel.

Candidates must submit their applications within 45 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar.

BIS has stated that it reserves the right to modify the number of posts and places of posting. Selected candidates may also be transferred to any BIS office across India as per organisational requirements.

Who Can Apply?

The recruitment is open to eligible serving employees of:

  • Central Government
  • State Government
  • Union Territory Government
  • Statutory Bodies
  • Autonomous Bodies

Eligibility Criteria for BIS Recruitment 2026

Candidates must meet one of the following service conditions:

  • Holding an analogous post on a regular basis;
    or
  • Serving in Level-6 of the Pay Matrix with at least three years of regular service.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration, MBA, with Personnel or Finance specialisation of two years’ duration from a recognised university or AICTE-approved institution;
    or
  • Post Graduate Degree/Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management, Human Resource Management or Finance of two years’ duration from a recognised university or AICTE-approved institution.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

Period of Deputation

The deputation will initially be for two years. It may be extended by another one year at the discretion of BIS.

Pay and Allowances

Selected candidates will be posted in Level-7 of the Pay Matrix. As per the official advertisement, the officer may either draw pay in the level attached to the deputation post or draw basic pay from the parent department along with deputation allowance as per DoPT rules. Other allowances will be governed by BIS rules and regulations.

Documents Required

Applicants should ensure that the following documents are submitted along with the application:

  • Filled application form in the prescribed format
  • Attested copies of certificates related to age
  • Caste/category certificate, wherever applicable

  • APAR dossiers or attested APAR copies for the last five years
  • Vigilance Clearance Certificate
  • Integrity Certificate duly signed by the appropriate authority

  • Details of any major/minor penalty during the last five years, if applicable
